(Read Mark 12:41-13:4)

“But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.”

Jesus was sitting a long time within view of where the offerings were being made and watching those who came to make offerings to God. His disciples sat around him and did as he did. They had no idea why Jesus was looking so intently at the place where the offerings were made, but they watched along with him. The author Mark tells us that there were many rich people who had come to place large amounts of money in the offering pot.
