JESUS HEALS TEN MEN OF LEPROSY by Mark Moon

Luke 17:11-19

Key Verse: 17:16

“He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him–and he was a Samaritan.”

In this passage Jesus heals ten men with leprosy. Jesus thus reveals his divine compassion and almighty power of healing. One of the ten comes back to thank Jesus. Jesus gives him a special blessing. May God help us see Jesus the Messiah and learn the one who made a return to thank Jesus.

First, Jesus carries the cross of world salvation (11).

Christ’s love; Walk in the way of Love

 “Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:2

In Ephesians, Paul describes what a healthy church community looks like. He recounts many elements that are necessary for a church body to be healthy. PRAISE BE TO THE LORD

Key Verse 1:69

“He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.”

In the last passage Mary sang her song of praise to God: “My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” And, in this passage, old man Zechariah sings a song of praise to the Savior who was soon to be born of Mary. Why was Zechariah so joyful that he burst out in song? And what was the subject of his song of praise? Zechariah had much to be thankful for and to praise God for. The Trustworthy Message

Titus 1:1-16

Key Verse: 1:9

“He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”

There are many similarities between the first letter Paul wrote to Timothy, which we just finished, and the letter he wrote to Titus— another of his sons in the faith. They were both evangelized by Paul and called to follow in Paul’s footsteps. They were both left to serve in difficult and problematic churches, Timothy in Ephesus and Titus in Crete. They were both faced with the task of correcting doctrinal errors that were spreading in the churches of the time. “Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout.  He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.”

Last week we heard a wonderful message about the magi’s journey to meet and worship the baby Jesus.  When someone doesn’t have much education, wealth or government authority, such as myself, sees the magi who looks like they have it all take this journey, I am greatly encouraged. They left everything and embarked on a long life-threatening journey to offer the Savior of the world their hearts.  When they met him and saw that he was poverty stricken, they did not despise him but were filled with the joy and peace that only the Savior can give.  … Read the rest

COME WORSHIP HIM

Matthew 2:1-12

Key Verse: 2:2

 “And asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’”

Lord we are here today to worship you. Open the eyes of our hearts that we may see you and worship you.

Everyone is on a life journey or pilgrimage of sorts. And everyone devotes their heart to someone or to something. But does it deserve your worship or give you lasting joy? Christmas should make them happy because it is a time of great joy. But eating and gifting and being gifted don’t really give them much joy. Many are rather depressed. THE BIRTH OF CHRIST FORETOLD    

Luke 1:26-38                                                                                       

Key Verse 1:38   

 “‘I am the Lord’s servant,’  Mary answered.  ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’ Then the angel left her.”   

This Christmas passage is about a teenage girl, Mary, who was engaged to be married to Joseph.  An angel appears and gives her good news of great joy.  The annunciation of the birth of the Savior Jesus to this young girl was indeed a marvelous event in history.  But to Mary, it involved humility, absolute faith, and obedience to God.  And this is her story– a story of devotion to God and to his redemptive history.

Read the commands stated in this passage, at least verses 9-13. There is a popular kind or way of thinking that would consider these command unreal and unreasonable since we cannot produce in and of ourselves emotions that would force us to feel this kind of love or affection for someone else. Today we’re looking at a very special part of the Christmas story— the foretelling of the birth of Jesus. The Christmas story begins as God sent his angel Gabriel to Zachariah and Elizabeth.
