Paul began his letter to the Colossian Christians with thanksgiving and prayer for these precious Christians who had been the fruit of Epaphras’ preaching and teaching. The Supremacy Of Jesus Christ

Colossians 1:15–19

Key Verse: 1:18

“And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”

The word “Supremacy” perfectly defines Jesus Christ. After greeting the church at Colosse, Paul immediately began to state some immutable truths that would forever define Jesus Christ— who he is— and what he did. In Paul’s time, the Colossian church had been infiltrated by heretics who had their own ideas about the Lord Jesus and his Gospel. We can state those heresies and try to refute them one by one. He Has Rescued Us

Colossians 1:1-14

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

The Book of Colossians. One of most beautiful books to ever be written. We call this a prison letter because Paul wrote this letter to the believers in Colosse from prison. He would address the different heresies that plagued this first century church.
