Follow God’s Example

Ephesians 5:1-20

Key Verse: 5:1

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dear loved children” [“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children….”]

In chapter 4, we thought about unity in church. Those who accept Christ as Lord, regardless of their human backgrounds, become “one” as members of God’s church. To accept Christ as Lord is essential to become one. To accept Christ as Lord means to submit to his Lordship. Christ is head of the body and the center of the church. Each member must live a Christ-centered life and grow to the full measure of Christ’s image, that is, grow in godliness.

Do Not Give The Devil A Foothold

Ephesians 4:25-32

Key Verse 4:30

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

When Paul wrote to the Ephesians, the first three chapters were like an intensely bright light that illuminated their hearts and opened their eyes to see the spiritual world and reality as they had never seen it before. What did they see? God is Love

Ephesians 3:14-21

Key Verse 3:17b-18

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ”

I thank God for receiving the inspired words in the book of Ephesians through his servant the apostle Paul, who deeply loved all people by revealing to them the mystery of God and bringing them to Christ Jesus our Lord. We discussed in the first part of this chapter the mystery of God.
